The disk laser is one of the most important new developments in laser technology. Based on a revolutionary new laser-beam source concept, it stands for high efficiency and beam quality. It provides a high laser output and an ultra-short pulse capacity.

This laser beam source concept will improve existing applications in material processing, laser medicine, and other sectors while enabling new applications yet to come.

With the "Work Group Disk Laser" eight partners of the essential patents were awarded: Dr. Uwe Brauch, Dr. Carsten Contag, Dr. Steffen Erhard, Dr. Adolf Giesen, Dr. Martin Karszewski, Dr. Christian Stewen, Dr. Andreas Voß and Dr. Klaus Wittig as well as Prof. Dr. Helmut Hügel, Director of the Institute for High-Power Beam Technology, University of Stuttgart.
