BERTHOLD LEIBINGER STIFTUNG
The special concept of the work at the Kinderhospiz

Having to care for a dying child 24 hours a day, and often, for several years, means enormous stress for the entire family. Relationships suffer, careers and work take a back seat, the healthy brothers and sisters feel neglected, and family activities are usually almost impossible.
Why the Berthold Leibinger Stiftung supports charity and community organizations:
People in extraordinary situations need support. Hospice employees cannot relieve the pain or the sadness, but they can relieve frustrations of day-to-day life and make things a bit easier.
This is where Hospiz comes in. It addresses the needs of the entire family and offers relief, a break in the care for the sick child or some time to return to a clear frame of mind – all in an atmosphere that is comfortable and as much like home as possible.

The Kinderhospiz offers highly qualified palliative care, emergency aid, practical advice and information. This also includes psychosocial care at home, outpatient pediatric nurses and other special services for families.

These services for families are completely free of charge, despite little federal funding for this type of work.
